>> TONIGHT 12 NEWS COMMITMENT 2022 ELECTION SPECIAL. THE RACE FOR WISCONSIN GOVERNOR. THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. STAYS AWAY FROM THE FALL PRIMARY. NOW, EIGHT WISN 12 COMMITMENT 2022 PRIMARY TOWN HALL. LIVE FROM NO STUDIOS IN DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE, HERE ARE TONIGHT’S MODERATORS. JOYCE, MATT, AND GERRON JORDAN. [LAUGHTER] [APPLAUSE] >> GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. WELCOME TO EVERYONE’S 12 NEWS TOWN HALL. THE NEXT HOUR WILL BE BROUGHT TO COMMERCIAL FREE. I AM JOYCE. >> WE ARE HONORED TO BE JOINED BY THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FOR GOVERNOR JOINING US ON STAGE THIS EVENING. >> NO STUDIOS IS THE BACKGROUND -- BACKDROP FOR TONIGHT’S >> EVENT. >>GOOD EVENING TO EVERYONE AT HOME. THE VOTERS WILL BE ASKING THEIR OWN QUESTIONS AND LISTEN TO THE CANDIDATES RESPONSE, BEFORE THEY CAST THEIR BALLOTS AND WEEK’S PRIMARY. >> WE HAVE ASKED THE CANDIDATES TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS DIRECTLY. >> NO STUDIOS IS THE BACKDROP FOR TONIGHT’S EVENT. >> WHAT YOU FOCUS ON UNIFYING THE STATE OF WISCONSIN? HOW WOULD YOU DO THAT? >> I. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING TONIGHT. I AM INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL TO YOU AND ALL OF OUR WISCONSIN NEIGHBORS. TO YOU AT CHANNEL 12 FOR SPONSORING TONIGHT’S FORUM. IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT WE UNIFY. NOT ONLY AS A PARTY BUT ALSO AS A STATE. WHAT WE HAVE SEEN OVER THE LAST THREE HALF YEARS IS TONY TEAR WISCONSIN LIMB FROM LIMB. HE USED OUR WISCONSIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO PUT WISCONSINITES AGAINST ONE ANOTHER. TELLING SOME PEOPLE THEY WERE ESSENTIAL AND OTHER PEOPLE THEY WERE NOT ESSENTIAL. THERE WERE SOME SCHOOLKIDS, INCLUDING MY OWN, THAT WERE FORCED TO WEAR MASKS. SOME KIDS WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT PLAY SPORTS. >> I AM IN MY FOURTH TERM. I’M VERY PROUD OF THAT BECAUSE IT HAS ME VERY CLOSE TO KIDS AND EDUCATION. THAT IS A LOT OF WHAT WE NEED TO DO RIGHT TO HELP OUR SOCIETY DOWN THE ROAD. STARTS WITH THE KIDS IN SCHOOL. ALSO BEING A LEGISLATOR. I AM AN OUTSIDER ON THE INSIDE. I SEE WHAT’S BROKEN. I SEE SOME OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO HELPED PERPETUATE THOSE SITUATIONS. WE NEED TO WALK -- WORK TO RESOLVE ISSUES. WHAT I WANT TO DO IS BUILD CONSENSUS. I APPRECIATE ANYONE WHO RUNS FOR ANY POSITION FOR ANY OFFICE, ANY LEVEL. EVERY SHOE THE TWO INDIVIDUALS ON STAGE WITH ME TONIGHT. IT TAKES A LOT TO DO THIS. I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM AFTER AUGUST 9. SHOULD I BE THE SUCCESSFUL NOMINEE I WILL ASK WITH THE WOULD LIKE TO DO TO HELP THE SITUATION SO WE CAN GET OVER THE FINISH LINE ON NOVEMBER 8 AND TAKE OUR GOVERNMENT BACK. GETTING RESOLUTION REQUIRES MULTIPLE PEOPLE. THE MORE YOU HAVE, YOU GET DIFFERENT IDEAS. EVERY GOOD IDEA SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THERE ARE NO BACK QUESTIONS. CONSENSUS FROM THE MANY THAT EVERYBODY IS PARTICIPATING IN. THAT IS A GOOD WAY TO CONTINUE ON. THANK YOU. >> > MR. MICHAEL’S. >> GREAT CHOICE. HAVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR HIM. HE AND I HAVE A LOT IN COMMON. WE ARE BOTH UTTERANCE. HE WAS IN THE MARINE CORPS. I WAS IN THE ARMY. HE IS ALSO A BUSINESSMAN. WHAT’S REALLY IMPORTANCE -- IMPORTANT IS THE PREMISE OF YOUR QUESTION. ARE WE FIGHTING TOO MUCH? I HAVE NEVER HAD A NEGATIVE AD RUN FOR MY CAMPAIGN IN THIS RACE. THE REASON IS, AND MY BUSINESS WE NEVER WON A SINGLE PIECE OF BUSINESS BY TALKING BAD ABOUT THE COMPETITION. IT IS BAD POLICY. THE REPUTATION OF DOING THAT IN MY INDUSTRY, ANY INDUSTRY, PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY DISRESPECTED. I AM HOPING WE COULD ALL FOCUS ON WHAT THIS IS ABOUT. WHAT TONIGHT IS ALL ABOUT. WHAT THIS CAMPAIGN IS ALL ABOUT. AND THAT IS, WHO WAS GOING TO TAKE ON. WE HAVE TO UNIFIES CONSERVATIVES TO BEAT TONY DEVERS. A WEEK FROM TOMORROW, WE WILL DECIDE. WE NEED TO UNIFY. ALL OF US. ALL OF US CONSERVATIVES, ALL OF US REPUBLICAN TO THE STATE. TONY IS FAILING WISCONSIN. WE NEED TO HAVE NEW LEADERSHIP IN THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE. THAT IS WHY I AM WRITING. I AM NOT WINNING TO REND THIS PRIMARY. IM RUNNING TO REPLACE HIM. THANK YOU. I THINK BECAUSE ALL OF US SPOKE AT THE PUBLICAN PARTY CONVENTION. >> YOU WOULD HAVE TO SUPPORT PUBLICLY, THE EVENTUAL NOMINEE. I’M SURE I CAN SPEAK FOR MY COLLEAGUES UP HERE TO SAY YES. >> I DID NOT NEED TO SIGN A FORM TO DO THE RIGHT THING. TO DO THE RIGHT THING IS TO STAY TOGETHER, UNIFY AND WIN. AND GET UNFINISHED BUSINESS DONE, STARTING ON NOVEMBER 9. >> IT’S BEEN ABOUT BEATING TONY FROM THE BEGINNING. IT WILL BE ABOUT IT FROM -- UNTIL NOVEMBER 8. >> NEXT QUESTION COMES FROM SERENA MARTIN. SHE IS A GRADUATE STUDENT FROM MILWAUKEE. SHE IS ALSO AN ADVOCATE FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT. SHE IS CONCERNED ABOUT ACCESS TO FIREARMS. YOUR QUESTION. >> I AM CONCERNED THEN VIOLENCE IS A CONCERN. IN WISCONSIN WE ARE ABOVE AVERAGE IN THE NUMBER OF HOMICIDES, SPECIFICALLY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. WE WERE AT 68. WE HAVE HAD A 30% TO 40% INCREASE AT 52% OF THOSE HOMICIDES OR DO TO ASK OF GUN VIOLENCE AND FIREARMS. WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN MIND? WHAT’S YOUR PLAN FOR REDUCING OR ELIMINATING THE REPEAT ACTS OF GUN VIOLENCE FROM THOSE WHO HAVE MINOR CONVICTIONS AND ARE STILL ABLE TO POSSESS AND/OR PURCHASE FIREARMS? >> YOU ARE FIRST. >> I AM A SECOND AMENDMENT SUPPORTER. I BELIEVE IT’S A RIGHT FOR US TO BEAR ARMS. WITH THAT SAID, I THINK ONE OF THE MANY CAUSES AND OUR SOCIETAL DYSFUNCTION IS LACK OF RESPECT. I THINK IT STARTS AT THE EARLY AGES WITH EDUCATION. WE HAVE TO GET INFORMATION OUT TO YOU SOONER AND TALK MORE ABOUT THE RESPECT FOR OTHERS. WE ARE ALL GOD’S CHILDREN. WE DO NOT TREAT EACH OTHER THAT WAY. AN ELEMENT THAT I THINK HAS BEEN LACKING GREATLY WITH OUR YOUTH IS THE EXPOSURE TO THAT REALITY. WITH THAT, I WOULD THINK ADDITIONAL EFFORTS TO HELP EDUCATE, EVEN ADULTS AND WORK ON THE UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT MEANS TO CARRY. IT SHOULD ALL BE DONE LEGALLY. THERE IS THE TRAINING ELEMENT THAT WE ARE LACKING AWARENESS AND COMPASSION. THAT IS A BIG PART OF THE PROBLEM. GUNS HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR CENTURIES. YET, WE SEEN THE LAST COUPLE DECADES IN UPTAKE IN THEIR ABUSE. FOR ME, IT’S MORE OF THE UNDERSTANDING THAN THE ACTUAL WEAPON ITSELF. I’M APPREHENSIVE ABOUT BANNING WEAPONS WHEN WE SHOULD FOCUS ON WHO’S USING THE WEAPONS. THAT IS WHERE MY ANSWER WAS STUCK. MR. MICHAEL’S. >> DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, THERE’S WAY TOO MUCH OF IT SOCIETY TODAY. THE PROBLEM, THE GUNS ARE ALL AROUND THE STREETS NOW. RECENTLY, IT HAS STARTED TO BLEED INTO THE HOUSEHOLD AS WELL. THE REASONS I BELIEVE THAT IS, THE BAD GUYS HAVE SUCH AS RESPECT FOR THE LAW. ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE NEED TO DO IS ENFORCE ALL THE LAWS AND ALLOW LAW ENFORCEMENT TO CRACK DOWN ON THESE GUYS. I BELIEVE LAW ENFORCEMENT KNOWS WHO THE BAD GUYS ARE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND WHO HAS WEAPONS AND WHO DOES NOT. ESPECIALLY WHEN WE START TAKING THOSE WEAPONS INTO THE HOUSEHOLD AND USING IT AGAINST THEIR SPOUSE OR GIRLFRIEND. THERE’S NOTHING MORE AWFUL THAN THAT. I DO AGREE WITH WHAT TIM SAID. GUNS HAVE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME. GUNS HAVE NOT CHANGED OVER THE LAST 40 OR 50 YEARS. WE NEED TO COME DOWN HARD. THE BAD GUYS THAT HAVE THE GUNS AND TAKE THOSE GUNS AWAY. IT BOGGLES MY MIND THAT WHEN THEY ARREST SOMEONE WHO CREMATED A CRIME WITH A GUN, THAT ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS THE DA’S ARE PROSECUTORS WANT TO DO IS DROP THE GUN CHARGES RIGHT AWAY. YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. WE NEED TO BE TOUGH ON CRIME. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE GUNS ARE RESPONSIBLE GUN USERS, LIKE HUNTERS AND THOSE THAT WANT TO DEFEND THEIR FAMILY, THEMSELVES, AND THEIR PROPERTY. I AM FULLY SUPPORTIVE OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT. I STARTED HUNTING AS A YOUNG BOY. 12 YEARS IN THE ARMY ON ACTIVE DUTY AS IT ARMY RANGER, I OWN A LOT OF GUNS. I KNOW HOW TO USE THEM SAFELY. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE MORE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS. THANK YOU. >> YOU BROUGHT UP THE RASH OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. OVER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS, SIX WOMEN HAVE DIED. IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO MISS IN THE PAPER THAT THEY WERE COMMENTING ON THIS. I’M GLAD OF THE INVESTMENTS WE MADE IN THIS SOJOURNER PEACE HOUSE BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH RIGHT NOW. THERE ARE STILL BAD GUYS AND WE HAVE FACED THREE AND A HALF YEARS OF FORCED ISOLATION WHICH HAS EXACERBATED US. IT IS TERRIBLE. I HAVE BEEN ENDORSED BY THE WISCONSIN PATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, AND THE MCCALL WALKIE POLICE ASSOCIATION. MORE THAN HALF OF WISCONSIN CHAIRS. TWO DAYS AGO, I WENT ON A RIDE ALONG, WITH THE MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THERE WAS ANOTHER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. THIS ONE ACTUALLY FOLLOWED A WOMAN TO HER WORKPLACE. WE WERE THE FIRST PEOPLE ON THE SCENE. I REMEMBER, GOING IN AND THE MAIN WITNESS OF THE SHOOTING WAS DISTRAUGHT. SHE WAS DESCRIBING A MAN THAT THE VICTIM KNEW, SHOOTING HER TWICE. ONCE THE THIGH, ONCE IN THE GROIN. RIGHT IN BACK OF THE AUTOS. WHEN THE COPS RESPONDED THEY HAD TO PULL OUT CANS OF PENNZOIL TO MARK THE BULLET CASINGS. HE KNEW HER. IT WAS PERSONAL. THAT IS THE MYSTIC VIOLENCE. IT IS ALWAYS PERSONAL. WHAT IS ALSO PERSONAL IS THE FACT THAT WE DO NOT HAVE LEADERS WHO ARE WILLING TO STAND UP TO THESE BAD GUYS. AS YOUR GOVERNOR, I WILL ASSURE THAT WE TAKE AWAY DISCRETION FROM THE BAD DISTRICT ATTORNEYS AND BAD JUDGES WHO LET THE BAD GUYS BACK OUT ON THE STREET. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO TIE THEIR HANDS BY DOING BAIL AND SENTENCING REFORM. THAT WAY YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE MANDATORY MINIMUMS FOR BOTH BAIL AND SENTENCING. BAD JUDGES ARE NOT LETTING CRIMINAL COAL -- CRIMINALS BACK ONTO THE STREETS. THE COPS ARE ARRESTING THE SAME GUYS, EVERYONE WEEK. IMAGINE HOW THE COPS ARE FEELING, DOING ALL THESE INVESTIGATIONS, REFERRING THESE CASES. THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY SETS LOW BAIL? OR NONE AT ALL? THE BAD GUYS BACK OUT ON THE STREET, POTENTIALLY HARMING ONE MORE VICTIM? IT’S NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED, THROWING UP THEIR HANDS. THAT IS WHY WE WILL DO BAIL AND SENTENCING REFORM. I WILL SIGN THAT VOTE. WE WILL PUT 1000 MORE COPS ON THE STREET. I WILL FIRE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OF MILWAUKEE COUNTY. SOMETHING TONY HAS THE ABILITY TO DO RIGHT NOW. I WILL FIRE JOHN CHISHOLM ON DAY ONE. THE WOMAN WHO IS THE MAIN WITNESS, CAME OUTSIDE AUTOZONE AND WAS STILL PHYSICALLY UPSET. I WAS TALKING TO HER, AND SHE HUGGED ME AND SHE LITERALLY SAID , I NEED YOU TO TAKE CARE OF US. I NEED YOU TO DO THIS FOR MY CHILDREN. THAT IS WHY AM DOING THIS. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN. I WANT TO PROTECT WISCONSIN FAMILIES LIKE I PROTECTED MY OWN. MAYBE THAT IS THE MAMA BEAR AND ME OR, THE SISTER AND ME. THESE WOMEN MUST BE PROTECTED. I COMMIT TO DOING EXACTLY THAT. >> BUT I WONDER IF GUN REFORM MAY BE PART OF THAT? I’M GONNA START WITH YOU. IS THERE ANY GUN REFORM LEGISLATION THAT YOU SEE YOURSELF SUPPORTING? >> CURRENTLY, NONE THAT I CAN NAME. RED FLAG LAWS ARE RED FLAGS TO ME. IT’S THE BEGINNING OF THE CONFISCATION ELEMENT THAT WOULD TAKE AWAY OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT AND OPEN UP THE DOOR FOR ADDITIONAL TYRANNY. I WOULD BE INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT EVERYONE IN THE LEGISLATIVE BODY WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT AND WE COULD HAVE DISCUSSIONS. I AM OPEN TO THAT. >> MR. MICHAEL’S. >> GUNS HAVE NOT CHANGED. SOCIETY HAS CHANGED. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT LAW-ABIDING GOAT -- GUN OWNERS ARE HAVING THEIR GUNS COME SATED BECAUSE IT ANGRY EX-SPOUSE MAKES A COMPLAINT. THE SECOND AMENDMENT IS CONSTITUTIONAL. IT IS A RIGHT GIVEN BY THE CONSTITUTION TO BEAR ARMS. I WILL SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT. WHAT WE HAVE TO DO IS SUPPORT -- ENFORCE THE GUN LAWS IN THE BOOK. THERE ARE A LOT OF GUN LAWS ON THE BOOKS. WE NEED TO LET LAW ENFORCEMENT DO THE JOB THAT THEY WANT TO DO AND TAKE THESE GUNS AWAY. WHEN THESE GUYS ARE RESTED, NOT LET THEM OUT ON THE STREET THE NEXT DAY. I WILL FIRE THESE CATCH AND RELEASE DA’S. WE WILL HAVE RULE OF LAW IN WISCONSIN. MS. CLAY FISH? >> THAT’S PART OF OUR PROBLEM. YOU HAVE BAD DA’S AND BAD JUDGES WHO ARE HAPPY TO LET THE BAD GUYS GO BACK ON THE STREETS. PART OF THIS START IN K-12, WHEN YOU HAVE DISTRICTS PULLING OUT OF K-12, YOU ARE CREATING A CULTURE THAT IS NOT RESPECTFUL OF THE LAW AND BUILDS NO RELATIONSHIPS. COMMITTEE POLICING IS GONE IN AN ENVIRONMENT LIKE THAT. >> THE NEXT QUESTION COMES FROM DAVE. AS A SMALL BUSINESSMAN FROM HARTFORD, A REPUBLICAN WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT DONALD TRUMP. WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION? >> I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF FORTUNE BOTH TO BE ELECTED TO THE GOVERNORSHIP FOR THE GREAT STATE OF WISCONSIN, IF YOU WILL SUPPORT DONALD TRUMP IN 2024 IN HIS THIRD ATTEMPT TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, EVEN AFTER THE EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE ON JANUARY 6, 2021. IF YES, WHY? >> MR. MICHAEL’S. >> GREAT QUESTION. I UNDERSTAND THE PREMISE OF YOUR QUESTION. I WANT TO CLEAR THE AIR FOR EVERYBODY. I HAVE BEEN ENDORSED BY DONALD TRUMP. ALL CANDIDATES ON STAGE ALL SAW HIS ENDORSEMENT. IT HAS NOT CHANGED A SINGLE THING I’VE BEEN DOING SINCE I BEEN IN THIS RACE. PRESIDENT TRUMP TOLD ME I’M GOING TO ENDORSE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE AN OUTSIDER, BUT YOUR BUSINESSMAN. I’M A NON-POLITICIAN. HE DID NOT EVEN WASHINGTON DC. HE DID NOT HAVE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. I DO NOT HAVE TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR. I WANT TO SERVE, LIKE PRESIDENT TRUMP DID. HE WANTED TO DRAIN THE SWAMP. WE FOUND OUT IT WAS A VERY LARGE FONT. NOW, 2024I AM FOCUSED ON THE SELECTION RIGHT NOW. I HAVE MADE NO COMMITMENTS TO ANY CANDIDATE IN 2024. WHAT I’M FOCUSING ON IS BEATING TONY. WE NEED TO HAVE NEW EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP AND THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE. FIRST THINGS FIRST, I DO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT STORM THE CAPITAL AND JANUARY 6. I BELIEVE THAT BUT HE THAT WENT TO THE CAPITAL NEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING WAS WRONG. HOW COULD YOU NOT THINK THAT THAT WAS WRONG? I DO NOT SUPPORT WHAT HAPPENED ON JANUARY 6, NOR THE PEOPLE THAT STORMED THE CAPITAL. THANKS AGAIN. >> HI DAVE. ED IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT ENDORSEMENT CAME AFTER A PHOTO OF MY UNDERAGE DAUGHTER AT THE SCHOOL DANCE WAS SHOWN AT THAT MEETING. AS A MOM, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NO WORDS FOR. AS FAR AS 2024 GOES, I CAN COMMIT TO YOU THAT I WILL SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE. IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE AN ASSORTMENT TO CHOOSE FROM OF INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE. SOME OF WHOM HAVE ALREADY BEGAN TO CAMPAIGN HERE IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN. MOST IMPORTANT TO ME, WE RETIRE JOE BIDEN. JOE BIDEN HAS LED OUR COUNTRY INTO RECESSION, EXACTLY AS WE SAW IN 2007-2009, WHEN DID MR. SHE WAS FIRST ELECTED. I REMEMBER THOSE DAYS. I WAS 18 PARTY MOM, PUSHING A BABY STROLLER FROM TEA PARTY TO TEA PARTY. I WAS FURIOUS. JIM DOYLE HANDED US A BUDGET THAT WAS A PILE OF GARBAGE. 3.6. -- BILLION DOLLAR HOLE IN IT. WE WERE ABLE TO RECOVER AND TURN WISCONSIN AROUND. ACT AND SAY $15 BILLION. WE WERE SWORD SANITY IN OUR STATE. WE WERE ABLE TO PASS GREAT CONCERN. WE BECAME A RIGHT TO WORK STATE. ONLY AFTER A DEEP RECESSION BROUGHT ON BY FAILED LEADERSHIP. JOE BIDEN HAS FAILED THIS COUNTRY. IT IS TIME FOR JOE BIDEN TO GO. I WILL PLEDGE TO YOU THAT IN WISCONSIN, WE WILL DELIVER OUR 10 ELECTORAL VOTES FOR A NOMINEE. >> MR. ANTHONY. >> I WOULD LIKE TO CLEAR THE AIR ON THIS ENDORSEMENT COMMENT. I ACCEPTED AN INVITATION TO GO TO MARGO LAGO. I WENT THERE FOR HER. I GAVE HER MY WORD. I WOULD GO. IT WASN’T CHEAP, BUT I WENT FOR HER. WHILE I WAS THERE, I DID SPEAK TO THE PRESIDENT FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE. I DO NOT GO DOWN FOR HIM. I DID KNOCK DOWN FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. HE CONTACTED ME IN NOVEMBER OF 2021. AND AGAIN, ON DECEMBER 3, 2021 AT MY HOME. WE SPOKE AND WE TALKED ABOUT ENDORSEMENTS. I SAID DON’T WANT TO GO THERE. I AM FOCUSED ON A RESOLUTION TO RECLAIM OUR ELECTORS BECAUSE OUR PROCESSES ARE SO BROKEN, EVEN AS RECENTLY AS TODAY. WE HAVE ISSUES WHERE YOU CAN GET INTO THE SYSTEM AND ASKED FOR MY BALLOT TO BE DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME AND YOU COULD FILL IT OUT AND SEND IT IN AND YOU COULD BE VOTING FOR ME AND I WOULD NOT EVEN KNOW IT. WE HAVE ISSUES WITH VANS DRIVING AROUND COLLECTING BALLOTS. THAT IS ILLEGAL. MY FOCUS IS THE ELECTION BE --. I’M NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING ABOUT ENDORSEMENTS OF THE TIME. I HAD HIS NUMBER. I NEVER CALLED THEM. IT WAS NOT MY PLACE TO ASPIRIN ENDORSEMENT. I THINK HIS POLICIES WERE GOOD, CONSIDERING THE CONDITION OF OUR NATION BACK WHEN HE WAS PRESIDENT. THINGS WERE LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THEN. I DO NOT LIKE A LOT OF THE TWEETS THAT WENT OUT. HE HAD A MEDIA THAT WAS AGAINST HIM HE COULD NOT GET HIS MESSAGE OUT. I WAS NOT HIM. I WAS NOT THERE. AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED, THERE IS A PROCESS. THERE IS A PROCESS FOR ELECTIONS. PEOPLE CAN THROW THEIR HEAD INTO THE RINK LIKE WE DID. WHETHER THERE’S 3, 13, ARE 33 PEOPLE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2024, HE IS GOING TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS AGAIN. TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, I’M NOT SURE WHERE THE NATION IS WITH REGARD TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN. I UNDERSTAND THE SPECULATION IN YOUR QUESTION. IN RETROSPECT IN HINDSIGHT I CAN SEE THE DYNAMICS HAVE BEEN SO DRAMATIC THE PAST COUPLE YEARS. NOT JUST IN WISCONSIN BUT IN A COUNTRY THAT IS GOING TO BE A WHOLE NEW SLEW OF CONSIDERATIONS FOR OUR NATION. I WILL WAIT TILL THE DAY COMES WHEN WE KNOW WHO ALL THE CANDIDATES ARE. WE WILL AT THE PRIMARY PROCESS OCCUR. WHOEVER LANDS, THAT WILL BE THE PERSON WE WILL WANT TO GET BEHIND SO WE CAN GET OUR COUNTRY BACK IN ORDER. THANK YOU. >> DAVE SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT JANUARY 6. JUST CURIOUS, DID DONALD TRUMP DO ANYTHING WRONG ON THAT DAY? >> DONALD TRUMP HAD A RALLY. THINK THERE WERE 60,000 PEOPLE THERE. IN THE END, READ THOUSAND OR 5000 STORM THE CAPITOL. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY EVIDENCE THAT DONALD TRUMP SAID GO TO THE CAPITAL AND STORM IT. DO NOT THINK HE WOULD DO THAT. CLEARLY THERE IS A LOT OF POSTURING THAT IS GOING ON TV, TRYING TO MAKE DONALD TRUMP LOOK BAD WITH ALL THESE HEARINGS THAT THEY ARE HAVING. IT IS A WHOLE BUNCH OF DEMOCRATS AND LIBERAL REPUBLICANS THAT ARE ON THE COMMITTEE. SO, I DO NOT THINK HE DID ANYTHING WRONG. >> TO JOYCE’S QUESTION. >> I CONDEMNED THE VIOLENCE RIGHT AWAY. I WILL TELL YOU I BELIEVE THAT HUMAN BEINGS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS. ULTIMATELY, THOSE PEOPLE WHO DID STORM THE CAPITOL ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY DID. >> I WILL NOT GO INTO THE WEEDS ON WHAT I HAVE BEEN HEARING ABOUT JANUARY 6. I WILL SIBLEY SAY THERE IS A PROCESS OF REVIEW GOING ON RIGHT NOW. AN OVERSIGHT THAT IS LOOKING TO CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR WHOMEVER. THAT WOULD BE THE BYPRODUCT OF THE ACTUAL ACT THAT WOULD ANSWER THE QUESTION. I WILL NOT SPECK IN ANYTHING MORE. >> FORMER PRESIDENT HAS BEEN PUSHING WAS ON SOON RESIDENTS AS RECENTLY AS THIS PAST MONTH. WOULD YOU SIGN LEGISLATION THAT WOULD ATTEMPT TO OVERTURN THE RESULTS OF THE 2020 ELECTION, MR. MICHAELS? >> IF I MAY, A QUICK RESPONSE. I GET REALLY FIRED UP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WHEN I TOOK THE OATH OF OFFICE I SWORE TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION. THAT WASN’T NOT A 12 YEAR COMMIT HIM. THAT WAS A LIFELONG COMMIT IN. I AM UPSET THAT WE ARE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. WAS THE ELECTION RATE? WAS IT FIXED? I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIES. CERTAINLY THERE WAS VOTER FRAUD. THE PROBLEM IS NOBODY KNOWS HOW MANY FRAUDULENT VOTES THAT THERE WERE TODAY. JUSTICE GABLE MEN DOES NOT KNOW HOW MANY FRAUDULENT VOTES THERE WERE. NO ONE KNOWS. I GET ASKED THIS QUESTION. JUSTICE GABLE MEN SPENT $1 MILLION TRY TO FIND THAT THE ANSWER. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT FOR $1 MILLION WE COULD HAVE THE ANSWER TO THIS. EVERYBODY DESERVES TO HAVE THE ANSWERS. REPUBLICANS, INDEPENDENCE, DEMOCRATS ARE REALLY FIRED UP ABOUT THIS. WHEN I’M SWORN IN JANUARY, EIGHT MONTHS FROM NOW, I WILL LOOK AT ALL THE EVIDENCE. EVERYTHING WILL BE ON THE TIE -- TABLE. I WILL MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION. >> WOULD YOU SIGN YES OR NO. >> NO. YOU CAN SELL OUR CONSTITUTION STATUE AND HE WILL SEE THERE IS NO PATH TO DE-CERTIFYING ELECTION HAS ALREADY HAPPENED. THE DEEPER CONCERN HERE IS THE FACT THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE DEEP CONCERNS ABOUT WHETHER THEY SHOULD EVEN VOTE IN THE FUTURE. IF THAT IS THE CONCERN WE GOTTA ADDRESS IT. THAT IS WHY I WAS THE ONLY CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNMENT TO ACTUALLY SUE THE WISCONSIN ELECTIONS COMMISSION. THAT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE BECAUSE I WANT TO ABOLISH THE WISCONSIN ELECTION COMMISSION BECAUSE THEY ARE UNLAWFUL AGENCY. THEY HAVE INVOLVE US FROM THE BEGINNING. THEY HAVE BEEN WALLACE FROM THE 2020 ELECTION AND BEYOND. THEY LAME COVID. WE ARE GOING TO BAN AL HARVESTING. WE’RE GOING TO BAND BALLOT DROP BOXES. WE ARE GOING TO BEEN CENTRAL COUNTS. I AM GOING TO CREATE AN OFFICE OF ELECTION INTEGRITY UNDERNEATH THE UMBRELLA OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WITH REAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY, THAT COULD USE OUR FORENSIC AUDITORS TO AUDIT ELECTIONS MOVING BOTH FORWARD AND BACKWARD TO STOP FRAUD BEFORE IT STARTS, AND FINALLY PURGE OUR VOTER. NO MORE PEOPLE REGISTER 300 TO EMPTY LOT. LET’S MAKE ELECTION SECURE. FREE AND FAIR, ONCE AGAIN. >> THINKING. ON DECERTIFICATION LEGISLATION. >> QUICKLY, NOT POSSIBLE. MY HISTORIES DEEP ON THIS ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS FOR OVER 22 MONTHS. I HAVE A RESOLUTION. IT GOT TO THE RULES COMMITTEE. ALL OUR LEGISLATIVE BODY THE TO DO WAS HAVE A HEARING. FOR HIM PRESIDENT HISTORIC EVENTS LIKE WE HAD IN OUR NATION ON NOVEMBER 2020, ALL WE DID TO DO IS HAVE A HEARING. WE DID NOT HAVE ONE. WE PUT AN ENCLOSURE ON THIS THING. POSSIBLY WE GOT IT DONE BUT WE DIDN’T. TODAY, I MENTIONED EARLIER, I DO NOT WANT TO BE TOO REPETITIVE. WE HAVE A VAN DRIVING AROUND THE SCENE. I CALLED THEM ON THE WAY HERE TONIGHT AND EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT FILING A COMPLAINT THAT THAT IS HAPPENING. I WILL FILL OUT FORMS TO FORMALLY COMPLAIN THAT YOU HAVE A ROLLING DROP BOX. THEY HAVE BEEN DEEMED ILLEGAL OF THE SUPREME COURT COME ON JULY 8. THEY ARE STILL DOING IT. YOU GOT ALL IT BALLOTS COMING IN THAT HAVE BEEN ROLES BY NOT DROP . GOT A BODY WITH THE WISCONSIN -- CONTINUES TO VIOLATE LAW BECAUSE I THINK IT’S BECOME A LEARNED BEHAVIOR FOR THEM AND WHAT MAKES IT WORSE, AS THEY DO NOT EVER GET HELD ACCOUNTABLE. WE DO HOLD PEOPLE AND PROCESS ACCOUNTABLE OR WERE NEVER GET A FIX THIS PROBLEM. YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR ELECTIONS FOREVER. MIRIN HAVE SELECTIONS ABOUT ELECTIONS. >> I WOULD SLIDE LEGISLATION THE NANO SECOND TO MY DESK. >> OUR NEXT QUESTION COMES FROM ZENA WILSON, A FIRST TIME VOTER, A RISING COLLEGE FRESHMAN. HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT COLLEGE AND AFFORDABILITY. YOUR QUESTION. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH. GOOD EVENING CANDIDATES. AS GOVERNOR, WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO MOTIVATE COLLEGE GRADUATES TO STAY IN WISCONSIN AND NEGATE THE EFFECTS OF BRAIN DRAIN ON OUR ECONOMY? >> MIS-PLAY FOR SHOULD BE IN. >> CONGRATULATIONS. GO BADGERS. I’M A BADGER MYSELF. I’M GLAD THAT YOUR JOINING THE RANKS. I FEEL THIS QUESTION. MY DAUGHTER IS ONE YEAR OLDER THAN YOU ARE. THERE IS A LOT OF PARENT GILTS THAT COMES WITH THIS BURDEN. I HAD HOPED THAT WE HAD SAVED ENOUGH MONEY BUT I HAVE TWO GIRLS. VALEDICTORIAN SCHOLARSHIP IS NOT ENOUGH. AFTER A YEAR, SHE CHOSE A DIFFERENT SCHOOL. NOW, SHE’S GOOD HAD TO TAKE OUT LOANS. I GET IT. AVERAGE WISCONSIN KID HAS SEEN ABOUT $31,000. THAT IS NOT OK. THAT IS WHY I AM REALLY PROUD OF THE FACT THAT ADMISSION FROZE TUITION. I AM GLAD FOR THAT. AT THE SAME TIME, WE NEED TO MAKE IT AFFORDABLE. WITH YOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS, I’M SURE YOU’RE WORKING A JOB RIGHT NOW. SO THAT’S WHY I WOULD TAKE A POINT TO REGIONS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE STATE SENATE AND HER PLACE THEM WITH MY OWN AS COPIER. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE A BOARD OF REGENTS WHO ACTUALLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT IT IS LIKE TO TRY TO DO FOR I’M A MIDDLE-CLASS MOM. WE HAVE A BUDGET. I KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK. I GET WHAT IT’S LIKE TO HAVE TO GO TO YOUR KID AND SAY WE HAVE TO TAKE OUT A LOAN AND KEEP SAVING. MOM AND DAD ARE GOING TO TRY AS HARD AS YOU CAN. WE NEED TO APPOINT GOOD REGION SO WE KEEP COSTS LOW AND WE KEEP OUR REPUTATION HIGH. THESE THINGS ARE ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN OUR RANKINGS COUNTRYWIDE. WE WANT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN TO BE A DESTINATION. THIS IS GOING TO BE YOUR ALMA MATTER. I WANT TO REMAIN PROUD. YOU ASKED ABOUT GEN Z RETENTION. I WILL MOVE YOUR TAX RATE DOWN TO 3.5 PERCENT ON YOUR INCOME TAX. THAT’S GOOD TO BE ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORS IN THE MIDWEST. ALL OF OUR SURROUNDINGS. YOU NOT I WOULD. DO NOT GO TO CHICAGO. DO NOT GO TO MASADA. WE ARE GOING TO BE BETTER THAN ALL OF THAT. DO NOT VOTE TO FLORIDA OR TEXAS. HERE IS WHY. WE WILL NOT STOP AT 3.5%. WE ARE GOING TO GUN TOWARD A FULL ILLUMINATION OF THE INCOME TAX. >> THANK YOU. >> I WOULD LIKE THE UNIVERSITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN SOLVING YOUR QUESTIONS. ONE OF THE THINGS YOU NEED TO DO IS MAKE IT MORE AFFORDABLE OUT OF THE GATE. AS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS IN MANAGEMENT POSITIONS WITH MULTIPLE ORGANIZATIONS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I PUSHED REAL HARD FOR WAS TUITION REIMBURSEMENT. IT IS A SMALLER SCALE BUT WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION, IF YOU HAVE INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK WITH YOU AND THEY ARE GOING TO SCHOOL, WE WOULD GIVE THEM THEIR TUITION, AND PAY FOR THEM SO THEY COULD DO THAT WITHOUT THE BURDEN OF THAT AND STILL WORK WITH US. WHEN THEY GOT DINING GRADUATED THEY WOULD COME BACK. IT WOULD GIVE US 3-5 YEARS TO STAY WITH THE COMPANY TO HELP HER PAY THAT TUITION WITHOUT TAKING IT AWAY. A WAY TO A SENT PEOPLE TO SAY WISCONSIN WOULD BE SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINE. IF YOU WANT TO TO GO TO A CERTAIN TYPE OF UNIVERSITY, WE WOULD HAVE SOME SORT OF TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM THAT WOULD HELP MITIGATE THE COST AND MINIMIZE THE OVERHEAD. ON THE FRONT END, WE HAVE TO GET THAT REDUCED. SO IT’S MORE AFFORDABLE FOR EVERYBODY. THANK YOU. >> GRADUATIONS. I AM EXCITED FOR YOU. YOUR LIFE’S ABOUT TO CHANGE, PROBABLY FOR THE BETTER. STUDY HARD. I GET IT. TUITION COSTS ARE HIGH. I THINK YOU PROVIDE A MORE EXCITING AND VIBRANT ECONOMY AND COMMITTEE. YOU NEED TO GET CRIME DOWN IN MILWAUKEE. YOU MIGHT SEE THE SHINY NEW BUILDING SOUTH OF HERE. YOUNG PEOPLE LOVE COMING TO WORK THERE. I UNDERSTAND, WE THE SOCIETY, WE NEED TO CATER MORE TO YOUNG PEOPLE. SO THEY DO STAY HERE. WE CANNOT COMPETE ON WHETHER. WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE. I COMMEND YOU FOR GOING TO COLLEGE. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GONNA STUDY BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER A VO-TECH JOB. YOU COULD MAKE $100,000 AS A WELDER. YOU COULD MAKE $200,000 AS A LINEMAN. AS GOVERNOR I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE DO MORE VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN OUR HIGH SCHOOL. YOU DON’T WANT TO GET A FOUR YEAR DEGREE. I’M TALKING OTHERS, GO GET A GREAT OPPORTUNITY AND LEARN HOW TO BE A WELDER OR LINEMAN, OR MACHINISTS. WE ARE SO GOOD AT THAT WISCONSIN, BUILDING THINGS WITH OUR HANDS. YOU CAN MAKE GREAT MONEY TO SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY. I WISHING YOU GOOD LUCK. GO BADGERS. THANK YOU. >> WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE WITH OUR NEXT VOTER QUESTION. WE GO BACK TO JARED. >> OUR NEXT SESSION COMES FROM ANNA. SHE IS A SMALL BUSINESS WOMAN FROM MILWAUKEE. HER CONCERN IS WHERE THE NEXT GOVERNOR STANDS ON ABORTION RIGHTS. >> I AM WONDERING HOW THEY LOOK AT THE WOMEN IN YOUR LIFE AND TELL THEM THEY’RE NOT CAPABLE TO MAKE A PERSONAL DECISION. >> LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION. LIFE IS A GIFT FROM GOD. IT IS NOT THE BABY’S FALL ON HOW THEY WERE CONCEIVED. WE SHOULD DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO SAVE THE BABY’S LIFE AND THE MOTHER’S LIFE IF THERE IS A CRISIS SITUATION. IF AN INDIVIDUAL CREATED A BABY THAT IS UNWANTED, MY STRONGEST REQUEST WOULD BE THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THAT DECISION, EVEN IF IT WAS NOT THE WHEN THEY WANTED TO MAKE. THEY WOULD OFFER THAT CHILD’S LIFE TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD WANT IT. ADOPTION SHOULD BE THE OPTION. NOT TO TERMINATE THE BABY BECAUSE IT IS A DECISION THAT YOU DID NOT WANT FROM WHAT YOU ARE DISPLAYED IN. I REALLY BELIEVE THAT THE LORD WANTS US TO STOP KILLING BABIES. THANK YOU. >> MR. MICHAEL’S. >> I’M PRO-LIFE AS WELL. HE COMES FOR MY FAITH. I DON’T WANT TO JUST STOP ABORTION. BEING PERLITE MEANS PRIVATE PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPS. A YOUNG LADY OR TEENAGE GIRL THAT FIND YOURSELF IN AN UNEXPECTED PREGNANCY, BUT SHE HAS ALL THE OPTIONS AND SHE KNOWS WAS GOING ON OUT THERE, AS FAR AS YOU CAN KEEP THE BABY AND YOU CAN GET ADOPTION. THERE IS MONEY THEREFORE INFANTS AND TODDLERS, TO HELP BERDYCH THIS DIFFICULT TIME. I UNDERSTAND IT’S A VERY DIFFICULT DECISION. WE NEED TO STAND UP. I WILL STAND UP FOR THE UNBORN BABIES AS WELL. THANK YOU. >> HI. IT’S A REALLY HARD QUESTION. I KNOW THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE ASKING IT. THEY ARE SCARED AND CONFUSED AFTER THE DOBB’S DECISION CAME DOWN. I BELIEVE THAT LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION WHICH MEANS I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A BABY, EVEN IF UNBORN. AND THAT BABY DESERVES THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE. THAT IS WHY I WOULD KEEP WISCONSIN LAW AS IS. I WOULD ALSO WRAP RESOURCES AROUND MOMS WHO ARE FACING UNEXPECTED PREGNANCIES TO ASSURE THAT THEY HAVE THE EMPATHY AND THE COMPASSION, BUT ALSO THE RESOURCES THEY NEED IN ORDER TO FEEL COMFORTABLE MAKING THE DECISION THAT IS BEST FOR THEM, UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. ONE THING THAT I DON’T THINK WOMEN SHOULD HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN IS SOMETHING THAT DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN TELLING ME, AND MY DAUGHTERS, OUR ENTIRE LIVES. WHICH IS IF THERE’S AN UNEXPECTED PREGNANCY, YOU MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN THE LIFE OF THE BABY AND YOUR OWN SUCCESS. IT IS THE MOST ANTIFEMINIST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. IT IS A MYTH. WE ARE THE MYTHBUSTERS. THIS GENERATION IS GOING TO PROVE SOMETHING THAT I THINK WOMEN HAVE BEEN TRULY PROVING FOR GENERATIONS IN THIS COUNTRY. YOU CAN DO BOTH. YOU CAN HAVE A BABY AND BE SUCCESSFUL. AS GOVERNOR, I’M GOING TO ASSURE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS IN OUR STATE. >> THANK YOU. >> WE HAVE SEVERAL MORE IMPORTANT TOPICS TO COVER. WE HAVE LESS THAN 20 MINUTES ON THE CLOCK. >> THE NEXT QUESTION COMES FROM KELLY. SHE IS CONCERNED ABOUT INFLATION AND WISCONSIN’S ECONOMY. >> GOOD EVENING, CANDIDATES. THANK YOU FOR BE HERE TO SUCH SHARE YOUR PLATFORMS WITH US TONIGHT. MY QUESTION IS, WHEN YOU ARE ELECTED GOVERNOR, WHAT WILL BE YOUR FIRST ACTION THAT YOU WILL ENACT OR IMPLEMENT TO SUPPORT THE WISCONSIN ECONOMY? >> YOU BEGIN. >> PETROLEUM DRIVES ARE ECONOMY AND THE PRICE HAS GONE UP. WE NEED TO START BECOMING MORE ENERGY INDEPENDENT. WE HAD A GOOD ROLE GOING A COUPLE YEARS AGO. THAT ALL GOT CHANGE. THE PIPELINE SHOULD BE RESTARTED . AS GOVERNOR, I WOULD WANT TO BRING A COALITION OF GOVERNORS TOGETHER TO GO TO WASHINGTON AND SIT DOWN WITH THE PRESIDENT AND SAY, YOU ARE HURTING OUR STATE. YOU ARE KILLING OUR ECONOMY. WE HAVE TO GET THE PIPELINE BACK UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. WE HAVE TO SECURE OUR BORDERS. TO ADDRESS THE ECONOMY ISSUE, ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS IS PETROLEUM, BECAUSE IT AFFECTS ALL THE OTHER SUPPLY CHAIN ELEMENTS. THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY IS HURT BAD AS WELL. I WOULD BE THE FIRST THING I WOULD WANT TO PUSH FOR. BRING THE GOVERNORS TOGETHER AND HAD TO D.C. AND GET SOMETHING DONE SO WE CAN GET THE COST DOWN. THEN THINGS WILL START ROLLING. WE WILL HAVE MORE TO ADDRESS AFTER THAT. THANK YOU. >> MR. MICHAEL’S. >> I KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE PIPELINE AND INFLATION THAT IT CAUSED. WE WERE BUILDING THE KEYSTONE PIPELINE ON INAUGURATION DAY WHEN JOE BIDEN SHUT IT DOWN. BUT WE HAVE TO SHOW FOR TODAY? SEVEN DOLLARS DIESEL COSTING -- DRIVING UP THE COST OF EVERYTHING. IT WAS BAD ENERGY POLICY. AND TOO MANY STIMULUS DOLLARS COMING INTO THE ECONOMY. IT IS HARD FOR A GOVERNOR BUT I WILL BE A BIG ADVOCATE FOR HAVING SOLID, RELIABLE, AND CHEAP ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN AND NORTH AMERICA. THAT IS GOOD FOR ECONOMY. THE BEST THING WE COULD DO FOR THE PEOPLE OF WISCONSIN IS TO LOWER TAXES. I AM PUTTING ALL THE TAXES ON THE TABLE. WE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT EVERYTHING FROM INCOME TAX TO SALES TAX, PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX, ALL OF THESE. WE’RE GOING TO FIGURE HOW WE CAN LOWER TAXES AND WISCONSIN. IT IS A GREAT WAY TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY. THE HISTORY HAS PROVEN THAT IS WHAT WORKS. MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET. THAT IS GOING TO GET A KONTA ME GOING. WE CAN GET GUYS LIKE -- ARE TO STAY IN WISCONSIN. THANK YOU. >> BECAUSE I WAS LIEUTENANT, MINE IS A NERDY ANSWER. I GET REALLY SPECIFIC BECAUSE I’M A MIDDLE-CLASS MOM, I AM ON A BUDGET. I DRIVE A 2002 MINIVAN, WHICH IS NOT THE WORLD’S MOST FUEL-EFFICIENT. I CAN PLEDGE TO YOU I WILL NEVER RAISE THE GAS TAX BUT ON TOP OF THAT, WE HAVE TO GET REALLY SPECIFIC. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS WORSE BONDS WILL FOR A LOT OF HER INFLATION. JOE BIDEN BARRED FROM OUR GRAND KIDS AND SENT OUT CHECKS. HE WAS THE ONE WHO CAP THE BOOSTER PAYMENT ON TOP OF UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE. THE LAST GOVERNOR AND AMERICA TO PAY PEOPLE MORE MONEY TO SIT ON THE SIDELINE, RATHER THAN JUMP BACK INTO THE ECONOMY. THE FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO DO IS MASSIVE WELFARE REPORT TO GET MORE PEOPLE INTO THE ECONOMY. THEREBY ADDRESSING BOTH THE WORKER CRISIS, THE SHORTAGE OF WORKERS THAT LEADS TO AN AFFORDABILITY AND YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN CRISIS THAT ALSO LEADS TO AN AFFORDABILITY. YOU HAVE 123 PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THE SIDELINES ON WELFARE THAT WE NEED TO GET BACK INTO THE ECONOMY. ONCE WERE THERE, WE HAVE TO MAKE WORK PAY. THAT’S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER. YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR TAX RATE ON THE INCOME TAX BECAUSE A LOT OF THESE FOLKS ARE NOT PROPERTY OWNERS. DOWN TO 3.54%. WE HOLD THE LOWEST PAYING FOLKS, ABSENTLY HARMLESS. EVERYONESO MUCH LESS. THAT WAY YOU CAN FIGHT INFLATION WITHIN HER OWN HOUSEHOLD BUDGET BECAUSE YOU KEEP MORE OF YOUR OWN MONEY. ADDITIONALLY, SENIOR CITIZENS CANNOT AFFORD THINGS THAT ARE BASICS, GAS, GROCERIES, UNLIMITED BUDGETS. WE NEED TO LIMIT THE TAXATION ON RETIREMENT INCOME. I WILL ALSO ELIMINATE THE PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX. >> JARRETT IS VOTING US WITH OUR NEXT VOTER. >> THE NEXT QUESTION COMES FROM PORT WASHINGTON. HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT PROPERTY TAXES. YOUR QUESTION? >> THEY STRUGGLED WITH THEIR BUDGETS IN ORDER TO STAY WITHIN THE CURRENT TAX LIMITS. IF YOU ARE ELECTED GOVERNOR, WHAT WILL YOU DO GOING FORWARD TO ADDRESS THE COUNTIES MUNICIPALITY? >> THANK YOU. I UNDERSTAND ALL OF POLITIES ARE UNDER GREAT PRESSURE TO MAKE THAT UP. I AM A BUSINESSMAN. I UNDERSTAND THE TOP LINE, MIDDLE LINE, BOTTOM LINE. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN THE MIDDLE LINE, WHICH IS OUR COST LINE, TO HAVE A BALANCED BUDGET. BEFORE WE ALLOW COUNTIES TO INCREASE SALES TAX, I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE TOOK A HARD LOOK AT THE COST. IS EVERYTHING DONE EFFICIENTLY AS IT CAN BE? I’M SURE YOU HAVE CONSTITUENTS COMING TO ALL THE TIME. WE NEED MORE OF THIS LEAD. WE KNEW MORE ABOUT LEE. IT KEEPS GOING ON. WE HAVE TO BE FRUGAL. I AM A FRUGAL CONSERVATIVE. I WILL BE VERY HESITANT. I PROBABLY WILL NOT ALLOW ANY COUNTIES TO RAISE THEIR SALES TAX. >> SURE, LEE. I SIGNED THE TAX RETURN TAX FLAT -- PLEDGE. QUITE HONESTLY, THE MIDDLE OF HER SESSION AND BY JOE BIDEN REVISING DEFINITION OF RECESSION THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE THIS COUNTRY IS. THAT IS NOT THE TIME TO RAISE TAXES. WHEN YOU ARE FACING THE COUNTY WHAT OTHERS ARE FACING IS INFLATIONARY WAGES, THE SAME WAY EVERY FAMILY IS FACING INFLATIONARY RUSHERS. I GET IT. THAT’S I WOULD’VE THE FIRST PLEDGES I MADE TO HIS PUTTING 1000 MORE COPS ON THE STREET. THAT COMES FROM OUR STATE BUDGET. I ALSO KNOW THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO THE MAINTENANCE ON THAT. WE NEED TO ASSURE THAT OUR COMMUNITIES ARE SAFE. I MET A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WITH FOUR MAYORS. ALL OF THEM SHARED THE SAME CONCERN THAT YOU HAVE. WE ALSO NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN STATE AID GOES OUT SOMETIMES THAT STATE AID IS ISOLATED FOR A VERY SPECIFIC PURPOSE. WHAT WE KNOW AS PEOPLE HE COULD BE SAFE. OUR COMMUNITIES NEED TO BE RELIABLE, AND WE NEED TO HAVE GOOD FIRE AND EMS SERVICE. >> THANK YOU. >> CAN YOU TELL ME WHEN YOUR LEVY WAS LAST ADJUSTED? >> I DO NOT EVEN RECALL. >> IN A LONG TIME RIGHT? >> IN A LONG TIME. >> SO YOUR QUESTION BEGS THE QUESTION IF WERE TRYING TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE AN ENVIRONMENT THAT WAS CREATED 20 OR 30 YEARS AGO, YOUR PRODUCT COSTS ARE UP, SUPPLY COSTS ARE UP, PETROLEUM CLUSTER OF, YOU CANNOT MAKE ENDS MEET. RIGHT? TO SIT DOWN WITH COUNTY LEADERSHIP WOULD BE WHAT ARE THE FIRST IS I WANT TO DO. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE YOU. I DO KNOW -- NOT KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE IN YOUR C AND THE YOU HAVE. I WANT TO KNOW. IN THAT DISCUSSION, WE WILL FIND OUT WHERE YOU HAVE YOUR PAIN POINTS ON PRODUCT PRICE INCREASES AND THE CHALLENGES YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR BUDGETS MEET WITHOUT HAVING TO TALK ABOUT RAISING TAXES. YOU’RE JUST SHUFFLING THE DECK AND MOVING THE PROBLEM TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AS FAR AS PROPERTY TAXES GO, ONE OF THE THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE DONE IS PULL THE LEVY FOR THE SCHOOL, PUBLIC SCHOOL TAXES OUT THE PROPERTY TAX BILL. THAT WOULD GIVE A 60% TO 70% SAVINGS FOR EVERYBODY WHO OWNS A HOME. THAT ACTION SHIFTS THE TAX TO A DIFFERENT AREA. LET’S LEAVE THAT ALONE AND GO BACK TO THE SCHOOL PROPERTY TAX. YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS MASSIVE OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE A BUNCH OF MONEY. MAYBE SOMEBODY IN THE DISCUSSION WHERE YOU FIND THE RESIDUAL EFFECT OF THAT ACTION, WE CAN FIND A SOLUTION TO HELP ADDRESS THE COMMUNITY AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT SO THEY CAN MAKE ENDS MEET. IT IS COMMUNICATION, DISCUSSION. HERE’S WHERE WE ARE TODAY HERE SO WE NEED TO BE TOMORROW, HOW DO WE GET THERE. THAT IS WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN. I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH ACTIVITY YOU HAVE THERE WITH STATE-LEVEL SUPPORT. WITH THIS GOVERNOR, YOU WILL BE SEEN IN QUITE FREQUENTLY. YOU WILL SEE ME QUITE FREQUENTLY. WE HAVE TO GET THESE THINGS ALL. WE ARE KICKING CANS DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING STUNG. THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION. >> WE MAY TIGHTEN QUESTIONS TOWARDS THE END OF THIS BROADCAST. >> FINAL QUESTION COMES FROM MATT, A LIFE LONG EDUCATOR. HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE EXODUS OF TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS. >> WE HAVE SEEN AN UNPRECEDENTED EXODUS OF ALL LEVEL SCHOOL BOARD, ADMINISTRATION COVERS SCHOOL BOARD -- WHAT WOULD OUR ADMINISTRATION DO TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SET FOR THE NEXT GENERATION? >> MATT, I AM A PUBLIC SCHOOL MOM. I GET IT. WE SAW THE EXODUS OF A MILLION AMERICAN MOMS AT THE ADVENT OF COVID-19. A LOT OF THOSE MOMS, EDUCATORS. IN SOME CASES, BECAUSE COVID PUT SO MANY RESPONSIBILITIES ON TEACHERS, THEY ARE THE FIRST RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR THE COUNSELORS. THEY ARE THE TEACHERS TO THEIR THERE THE INTERVENERS. THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO GOT FED UP AND WALKED AWAY FROM AN INDUSTRY THAT THEY FELT WAS LESS REWARDING. THAT IS ON TONY. THE FORMER DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS. WE’RE GOING TO DO UNIVERSAL SCHOOL CHOICE WHEN I’M GOVERNOR. YOUR EDUCATIONAL DOLLARS ACTUALLY FOLLOW A CHILD’S EDUCATION AND NOT BUILDINGS AND BUREAUCRATS, CREATING REWARDING ENVIRONMENTS FOR TEACHERS, WHERE MORE SCHOOLS, THAT ARE BETTER, GET MORE FUNDING. BECAUSE PARENTS ARE CHOOSING TO SEND THEIR CHILDREN THERE. THE SCHOOLS THAT ARE FAILING, ARE THE SCHOOLS THAT EVENTUALLY, PARENTS ARE GOING TO SHUT DOWN. THOSE ARE KNOCKING TO BE THE SCHOOLS THAT TEACHERS WANT TO PURSUE CAREERS THAT. WE NEED TO DOUBLE DOWN ON SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS. MY HUSBAND WAS A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER DURING COVID-19. HE SAID I NEVER FACED ANYTHING SO RIDICULOUS AS TRYING TO TEACH TO ONE GROUP OF KIDS HERE AND ANOTHER GROUP OF KIDS HERE AND TRYING TO MANAGE CLASS PLANS IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT. I HAVE A PLAN THAT I WROTE OUT TWO YEARS AGO. YOU CAN STILL FIND IT ONLINE TO RECRUIT MORE SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS. >> TEACHERS ARE OVERWORKED. MANY OF THEM ARE UNDERPAID. WE HAVE TO CUT DOWN THE PRIVACY OF WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO BEHIND THE DESK. I WANT TO GET THEM IN FRONT OF KIDS TO EDUCATE THEM AND GIVE THEM THE BASICS FOR THEIR ACUMEN STILL SO THEY CAN BECOME SOMETHING SOCIETY. I AM A SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER. THAT’S THE THING WERE FOCUSED ON . I WANTED TEACHERS TO HAVE A BETTER ENVIRONMENT THAT IS MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THEM. THEY DO A LOT, A LOT OF OVERHEAD, A LOT OF DEMANDS. YOU HAVE ALL THAT PAPERWORK AND SHUFFLING STUFF AROUND AT THE END OF DAY MAKES FOR VERY LONG DAY AND HE GETS VERY TIRING. I WANT TO REDUCE THEIR WORKLOAD THANK. >> I WENT TO PUBLIC SCHOOL ABOUT AN HOUR NORTH HERE. IT WORKED FOR ME. THAT WAS OVER 40 YEARS AGO. I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR TEACHERS. THEY SHAPE TO I AM TODAY, FOR MY SECOND GRADE TEACHER, TO MY SEVENTH GRADE HISTORY TEACHER AND SO FORTH. THE BEST THING WE COULD DO FROM TEACHERS IS UNENCUMBERED THEM. GIVING FREER ROCK RECEIPT. WE WILL NOT MANDATE THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO TEACH SOCIAL THINGS LIKE CRT. WE ARE TO GET BACK TO READING, WRITING, AND ARITHMETIC. THAT IS THE BEST THING WE COULD DO FOR OUR CHILDREN. THAT’S THE BEST THING WE CAN DO FOR OUR FUTURE OF WISCONSIN. THAT’S THE BEST THING WE CAN DO FOR OUR ECONOMY IN WISCONSIN. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? UNIVERSAL SCHOOL CHOICE. IT BREAKS COMPETITION, INTO THE EDUCATION ARCHIVIST. COMPETITION IS A GREAT MOTIVATOR. IT WORKS THAT MY BUSINESS. IF WE ARE NOT IMPROVING EVERY DAY, WE ARE LOSING. I BELIEVE THAT WILL GIVE TEACHERS MORE FREEDOM AS WELL. TO DO THE JOB AT THEY WANT TO DO, THAT THEY ENJOY DOING, AND GIVE THEM MORE OPTIONS AS TO WHERE THEY CAN TEACH. THANK YOU. >> AS THE CLOCK WINDS DOWN OR WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU TO KEEP YOUR ANSWERS CONCISE. YOU SAID YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE TO BEAT TONY WHY YOU THINK YOUR OPPONENT CAP? >> THAT’S AN INTERESTING QUESTION. IN THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE. GRASSROOTS, PICTURE GROUPS, FREEDOM FIGHTERS. MANY OF THEIR MEMBERSHIPS. I TRAVEL THIS DAY AND THEY HAVE LIKE THE MESSAGE. I AM NOT BEHOLDEN TO ANY SORTS OF SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS OR LOBBING CORES. I’M VERY INDEPENDENT. THAT MAKES ME THE STRONGEST CANDIDATE. THANK YOU. >> I SAID EARLIER, DO NOT TALK BAD ABOUT PEOPLE. NEVER GOT ME A SINGLE PIECE OF BUSINESS. HERE’S WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO HIM. TONY HAS FAILED WISCONSIN. SOME WANTED TO START OPPOSITE OF HIM. THAT’S WHAT I AM. A BUSINESSMAN, A VETERAN, AN OUTSIDER. PEOPLE ARE SICK OF POLITICS AND READY FOR A CHANGE. I SCREAM, CHANGE. THIS GUY’S DIFFERENT. THIS IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. EVERYBODY IN THE STATE IS GOOD TO SEE THAT. HER PROBLEMS ARE GOING TO SEE THAT. INDEPENDENCE OR TO SEE THAT. A LOT OF BLUE-COLLAR DEMOCRATS ARE TO SEE THAT AS WELL. HAVE UP TO ME, I’VE BEEN VOTING DEMOCRAT MY WHOLE LIFE. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS LAUGHING. I BELIEVE THAT YOU, TIM, UNDERSTAND WHAT THE WORKINGMEN DOES. YOU PUT ON BOOTS YOUR WHOLE LIFE. ARMY BOOTS, STEEL TOE BOOTS, THEY KNOW THAT I WILL SUPPORT THEM. THEY WILL RAISE THEIR FAMILY. THEY WANT TO GO TO WORK. THEY WANT TO GO TO THEIR KIDS BALLGAMES. MAYBE GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY. THEY WANT ALL THIS LEFT GARBAGE TO GET OUT OF THEIR LIVES. THAT’S WHY BERGEN TO BE TONY. >> WHY CAN’T YOUR OPPONENTS BEAT TONY? >> NEITHER OF MY OPPONENTS RAILED ON ME. I WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYBODY KNOWS WHY AM THE PERSON TO BE TONY. ON THE BEST PERSON TO BE TONY BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN UP AGAINST THIS LIBERAL MOB AND THIS MONEY BEFORE. I’M THE ONLY LIEUTENANT GOVERNMENT -- AND GOVERNOR TO FACE A RECALL ELECTION. I FACED OFF AGAINST 100,000 PROTESTERS, IN THE MIDDLE OF MY OWN CHEMOTHERAPY. NOT ONLY TO LOSE MY JOB IN PRINCIPLE. IT IS THAT TYPE OF STEEL SPINE THAT WE NEED TO GO UP AGAINST TONY. IT’S THAT TYPE OF LEADER THAT WE NEED TO LEAD US INTO THE NEXT ERROR OF PROSPERITY. USHER IN THE NEXT CAN IRVINE TO THE SONGS. FROM RIGHT HERE IN A STATE OF WISCONSIN. SO I’M ASKING FOR YOUR VOTE ON AUGUST 9, BECAUSE I’M THE ONLY ONE, A MIDDLE-CLASS MOM FROM THE COUNTRY, WHO CAN BEAT TONY. >> THIS ONLY TO BE BRIEF. WILL YOU ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION? >> ABSOLUTELY. >> YES. >> ALL YES. ALL AGREE. THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH ESTHER. WE WANT TO THANK THE CANDIDATES FOR BEING WITH US TONIGHT. I WAS JUST WONDERING, BEFORE WE SAY GOOD NIGHT, IF THERE’S ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE THE AUDIENCE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU VERY BRIEF AMOUNT OF TIME. >> I’M WHAT YOU’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR DECADES. I AM. I AM BLUE-COLLAR. I’M THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE. >> THIS IS AN INTERESTING ELECTION. HE POURED AND HAVE TO DECIDE WHAT THE FUTURE POLITICS IS, WITH THE FUTURE OF GOVERNMENT IS, WITH THE FEATURE WISCONSIN IS. IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE. WE NEED TO STOP POLITICS. LET’S GET AN OUTSIDER, A BUSINESSMAN. I HAVE THE BACKGROUND AND EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE. >> I AM READY TO GO ON DAY ONE. I NEED YOUR VOTE ON AUGUST 9. SO WE CAN TURN WISCONSIN RIGHT SIDE UP AGAIN. >> THANKS VERY MUCH FOR BEING WITH US. WE WOULD LIKE TO THINK NO STUDIOS FOR HOSTING US. >> AND THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN THANK YOU TO OUR AUDIENCE. 'Spoiling a ballot'The Wisconsin Election Commission says it has been getting a lot of questions about the process and rules for spoiling absentee ballots.A spoiled ballot cancels an already returned absentee ballot so the voter can request another absentee ballot by mail or vote in person at their clerk’s office or at the polling place on Election Day. Here is the information the commission wants voters to know: Can a voter who requested an absentee ballot by mail cancel his or her original ballot and vote a new by-mail or in-person absentee ballot? Yes. Voters who have already returned an absentee ballot by mail may request in writing that their returned absentee ballot be spoiled so they can vote with a new one. Voters may appear in person at their clerk’s office until the end of in-person absentee voting hours and ask to have that ballot spoiled so the clerk can issue a new absentee ballot, which can be voted in person absentee at the clerk’s office. For most municipalities, the deadline to do so is Friday, August 5, 2022, but may be as late as Sunday, August 7, 2022, depending on the municipality’s in-person absentee voting hours.Voters can also ask to have their returned absentee ballot spoiled and be issued a new one by mail, but those requests must be made by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022. In Wisconsin, how long does a felony charge stay on your record? Most felonies stay on your record for life in Wisconsin. If the maximum penalty for your charge was over 6 years, you cannot even apply to have your record sealed.
Two felons can live together without any legal consequences. However, if you have not fully completed your sentence, things may be different for you.
Jury Duty. If you've been convicted of a felony, you will not be permitted to serve on a jury. This is because jury pools consist of people who have registered to vote. Since a felon doesn't have the right to vote, they won't be picked for jury duty.
